Studio X launches the “Go With The Flow” tool to imitate the migration of hydrocarbons
AUSTIN, Texas, November 30, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Studio X, a global innovation studio that is reinventing the future of work in energy exploration, today announced the public launch of its latest agent-based modeling exploration and production tool, “Go with the Flow â.
The âGo with the Flowâ tool is designed to allow users to quickly iterate and explore patterns of movement of fluids in the subsoil through a user-friendly interface. The tool is derived from a data science challenge on Xeek, a crowdsourcing platform founded by Studio X, which hosts competitions for data and geoscience experts to solve the challenges of energy exploration.
Inspired by submissions from the winners of the Xeek Data Science Challenge, the âGo with the Flowâ model has been enhanced and transformed into a product now available on the market in beta.
The tool allows users to download the seismic volume as a SEGY file, then select parameters for how they think fluids would behave miles below the Earth’s surface. Within minutes, the tool displays a gif of how agents accumulate in the seismic, allowing geoscientists to imagine how fluids such as hydrocarbons, water, and CO2 would migrate and be trapped in the sub. -ground.
âAgent-based models are used in a wide range of applications from economics to self-driving cars, but have not been widely used in the geosciences. They constitute an alternative to the construction of models rich in data and expensive in subsoil calculations â Nate suurmeyer, Xeek Program Director at Studio X said, âFor ‘Go With the Flow’, we built an agent that has simple behaviors so that it can interact with the data. Then we free up thousands of agents in real data. The resulting interaction creates results that mimic the real world. ”
On the market today, there are other tools that have functionality similar to âGo with the Flowâ, ranging from simple modeling tools to complex pond modeling software. However, one of the main differentiators of the âGo with the Flowâ tool is ease of use and a future pay-as-you-go business model.
âThe Go With The Flow tool is currently free for use while it is in beta. However, in the future, this tool and others built by Studio X will be accessible through a pay-per-view model. “use, without obligation of an initial license fee and contract. This is a paradigm shift in the geoscience tools landscape,” said Paul Genberg, product manager at Studio X.
