In the typical Alpine setting of Trentino Alto Adige, terracing is the distinctive feature of the landscape and it is fundamental for agriculture, allowing crops to be cultivated on the steep mountain slopes.

The project is inspired by this tradition: a reinforced concrete wall grows from the earth and surrounding the existing basement creates a horizontal plane, the basis of the new house.

The whole building was thought of as a pure volume sculpted by a long notch towards the valley, where the gallery is located. In this way, the diamond-shaped building stands out in the surrounding landscape and is at the same time influenced by it. The sloping roof recalls the typology of the adjacent buildings and the long gallery facing the mountains allows you to admire the Brenta Dolomites.

The interior layout is divided into two parts by a long corridor: on one side are the bathrooms, the laundry room, the cupboards and the kitchen. On the other side are the main rooms such as the living room and bedrooms which face the long gallery from where you can enjoy the stunning views.

The whole building, with the exception of the basement, which is made of reinforced concrete, is made of cross-laminated timber. The exterior cladding of the house is in white plaster while the interior walls, the floor and the ceiling of the gallery are made of wood, creating a contrast of materials.
