Since its establishment in 2010, Tokyo Design Studio has grown from a modest store in Amsterdam to a well-known global brand. Tokyo Design Studio bowls, mugs and plates are easily recognizable for their aesthetics and excellent quality. They are inspired by intricate Japanese art and porcelain.

Previously, in 2022, the emerging design studio introduced the “Red/Grey” and “Green/Burgundy” colorways of the FuelCell RC Elite v2 shoes with Stone Island and New Balance. The new iteration will now arrive in a “Steel Blue” makeup with synthetic uppers and mesh overlays.

The description of the collaborative sneaker on the official NB website reads,

“When you’re ready to blaze a new trail, grab the equipment that will get the job done. Our lightweight and aggressive TDS FuelCell RC Elite men’s racing shoe pushes the boundaries of performance and style, drawing inspiration from the classic 574 and progressive RC Elite. Designed with premium contoured synthetic overlays, engineered mesh, carbon fiber plate and FuelCell midsole for a propulsive feel, this sleek shoe will help you deliver exceptional performance.

As already mentioned, the shiny gray and blue tones of the uppers are combined with off-white details. Technical tonal knits are used to craft the uppers of these shoes. Underlying Blue mesh is accented with Gray suede cutouts on the upper.

According to the description of the shoe, the unique Steel Blue colorway is donated by former collab partner Stone Island. Mesh toes are covered in gray suede. Similar suede elements are also used for the eyelet as well as the heel areas. These suede asymmetrical cutouts are adorned with N logos towards the eyelets.

Gray eyelets are paired with off-white lace bows. Both sides together surround off-white tongue flaps. The tongues are emblazoned with “Tokyo Design Studio” and “New Balance” lettering, and perforations are added for improved breathability.

Additionally, the eponymous blue hue primarily covers the lateral sides of the pair, which features the NB logo and New Balance lettering on either side. The branded prints are also clearly visible on the insoles made in light beige tones.

The pair is integrated with propulsive FuelCell midsoles. These soles are made with bright white elements. According to NB,

“FuelCell foam provides a propulsive feel to help you move forward.”
