Hammerfall completes work on new studio album

Guitarist Oscar Dronjak Swedish metallurgists HAMMER FALL confirmed that the band has completed work on a new studio album, which will be released in 2022. The music for the disc was again recorded with Fredrik Nordstrom of Studio Fredman To Chateau Noir Studios, while the voices were posed with Jacob hansen To Hansen Studios in Denmark.

Dronjak discussed the making of the new HAMMER FALL LP in the last episode of Hammerfall TV, which was uploaded to the group Youtube channel. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “COVID obviously screwed up the lives of a lot of us. We tried to stay as healthy and happy as possible, and one thing we could do was work on a new album, this that we’ve been doing since March of this year, I think. Obviously we started writing songs a lot earlier than that. Actually, I started writing songs… Some parts of this album are older, but I started to write songs during the vocal recordings for ‘Domination’; when Joacim [Cans] was recording his voice for the previous album, ‘Domination’, I set up my stuff and just started… I caught the creativity bug when it happened, basically. Some songs were even older than that. Two songs were already ready for ‘Domination’, for this session, but I decided to retain them because we felt they needed more projectors than they would have had if they had come at the end of the session. ‘Domination’ records. So we took them out and took them out for this one. And I’m really glad we did. I can tell you guys you’ll be really glad we did too, once you hear it all. “

More information on the new HAMMER FALL The album is expected to be available Wednesday, December 1.

“Domination” was released in August 2019 via Napalm. For the disc, HAMMER FALL reconnected with Jacques Michel singing to Red Level Three studios, and Nordstrom for instruments.

In a 2019 interview with The Metal Observer, Dronjak said about “Domination”: “I think it follows the same path we were going with both ‘(revolution’ and ‘Built to last’. It’s pretty much an extension of that. What I think we achieved this time around is that we captured a lot of energy on the album: a lot of the live energy that you have when you play on stage. We tried to get that into the recording of the album as much as we could. And we’ve tried that a lot over the last couple of years, or probably as long as I can remember, but I don’t think we’ve managed to capture it as much as we did this time around. And if you talk about, like, music and stuff, I think this album might be the strongest we’ve ever released. At least up there, because there’s a lot of variety and I like that in an album… You don’t have any downtime on the album, you know; everything is really good in itself. Not just in the context of the album, but they can stand on their own and I think that’s something we’re really proud of and managed to achieve this time around. “

HAMMER FALL released a new live set, ” To live ! Against The World ”, in October 2020 via Napalm.
