Put on your dancing shoes, ghosts and elves: Halloween weekend is upon us and some terrifically fun festivities are in the works! Spooky concerts, costume parties, even a murder mystery where you become the sleuth – there are plenty of opportunities to immerse yourself in the spirit of Halloween. Here are some of the spooky shows you might want to see on or around October 31st.

The feast of the dead man

The canyon in Agoura Hills will welcome again Original members of Oingo Boingo (formerly Oingo Boingo Dance Party) on Sunday October 31. OJohnny “Vatos” Hernandez, Sam “Sluggo” Phipps, Carl Graves and other members of Oingo Boingo from the 80s-90s era are joined by a variety of special guests to play “Dead Man’s Party,” ” Weird Science “,” Just Another Day “and other popular hits, making it one of the hottest Halloween shows. Always an explosion of energy from the past, and this year with opening sets from Black valentine and Tilli and the coolers. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Scary comedy club

Ventura Port Comedy Club make the most of Halloween weekend with three special events.

Friday October 29, the night cabaret Moonlight follies takes to the stage to present Lydia’s Night Circus, a burlesque and variety show for adults only, billed as “the sexiest show on the planet”. It will feature a cast of stars including Veronica Velvet, Miss Tosh, Angie Cakes, Vixen DeVille and more. Lots of music, laughs and more in store, starting at 10 p.m.

For the more theatrical, the Fright Night Murder Mystery Dinner Show is the ticket. Taking place on Saturday, October 30, a performance cast will play roles centered around a murder mystery and leave clues in an interactive thriller that leaves the detective work to the public. A meal is included and costumes are encouraged. Doors open at 4.30 p.m.

Drag By the She Sunday Brunch is a regular issue at the Port of Ventura, but this year it’s taking place on Halloween itself – and this edition promises to be fabulously funny, weirdly entertaining, and devilishly delicious (thanks to the food provided by the Cuban Cup). Hosted by Ms. Pam Cakez and featuring the talents of Felony Dodger, Tiffany Vogue, Aqua, Samara Paris Sin and Elektra LaKill. Doors open at 11 am; the show itself starts at 12 noon

Dance until you die

Main street scene of downtown Ventura will have participants dancing in the streets (literally) on Friday, October 29, for its Halloween Dance Party, which starts at 6 p.m. Barrel howlers perform at The grape – formerly Squashed Grapes, and in a new location at 2733 East Main Street in Midtown Ventura – on Saturday, October 30, and swing dancers always put themselves at the feet of this hot jazz band, whether it’s a vacation or not. Want to cut a rug before the trick-or-treaters start roaming? Sunday October 31 Tony’s Pizzaria converts his 80s Beach Party into an 80s Halloween party, with a tribute band Badger throw in the contagious dance favorites of the epaulettes and neon era. The festivities begin at 2 p.m. and there will be prizes for the best 1980s-inspired costumes.

Pub evenings

Several local bars will be hosting Halloween parties this weekend.

Kick-off Friday evening October 29 at The grape. Co and Company presents “Season of the Witch”, with a sultry jazz singer Colène Riffo supported by a leading group. Don’t forget to wear a costume! The party starts at 7 p.m.

The VIP lounge in Ventura a DJ AVG spinning for its Halloween party on Saturday, October 30, from 9 p.m. Also on Saturday, Rock’n’roll pizza (at Harley’s Bowl in Simi Valley, on Cochran) will host a Halloween costume party with three tribute bands playing music from Mötley Crüe, Alice Cooper and KISS, 8 pm-11:30pm Vinyl gypsies perform a Halloween show at Raven Tavern at Oxnard from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

If you prefer a mash of monsters for an early bird, go to MadeWest Brewery in Ventura (Donlon Street location), which has a “Haunted West” pressure party 7-10 p.m. No-leash brewing in downtown Ventura comes to mind even earlier, with Stone Fly’s Halloween Party kick off at 6 p.m.

Everything revolves around the costumes to Paddy’s Bar and Lounge in Ventura. On Halloween night, October 31, the popular bar hosts a “Who’s Your Paddy” Costume Contest, with $ 500 in cash prizes for the best costume. Up there in Ojai, Topa Topa Brewery will host a costume party all day, from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., on Saturday, October 30: Come disguised and the brasserie will offer you a treat.
