Here’s “A Little Taste” Of Stryper’s Upcoming Studio Album

Michael Doux openly Christian rockers STRYPER shared a snippet of a song that will appear on the band’s upcoming album.

The 58-year-old guitarist/singer, who recently underwent surgery for retinal detachment, took his instagram Tuesday (April 5) to post a 42 second video from the studio, and he captioned it: “Let’s listen to this bad boy 😉 A little, little taste of @Stryper’s new album……”

STRYPER2020s tracking “Even the Devil Believes” LP was again recorded at SpiritHouse Recording Studios in Northampton, Massachusetts.

Last January, Sweet said he was “more concerned about the state of our world” as he continued to work on lyrics for the band’s upcoming 14th studio album. At the time, he wrote on his social media: “I’ll be honest. I’m a little nervous about the new album. Not the music itself, but more the process.

“We’re obviously not 100% functioning,” he continued. “ounces [Fox, STRYPER guitarist] lost hearing in his left ear and I lost sight (hopefully and in short term prayer) in my right eye. We are going to work in this way and it is certainly a first. How will this affect our performance? Not a lot. It will probably take a little longer to get what we want, but maybe not. We’ll have to see how that goes.

“I’m also in that place where I’m more concerned about the state of our world. I’m concerned about what I see on the news. Is it just me or do I feel like we’re in a much darker place these days? Our country, our world. Maybe I’m wrong, but I feel like the dark is taking over the light. People seem a lot colder and more concerned about themselves than others. There are good people, but times are definitely changing sadly.

“So while I was face down I was writing lyrics and although there are some straight songs about love, there’s more of a vision of the state of this world with lyrics that deal definitely from that,” Sweet added. “Maybe, just maybe this album will shed some light in and on some dark areas. That’s always my goal and always my desire. To help, not to hurt. To heal, not to harm. That’s my intention with every song I write.

“Anyway, we appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we embark on what will be our 14th studio album and I truly believe this one has the very strong potential to be our very best. I’m not saying that to I would never say it if I didn’t believe it.

“I hope to see you all at one STRYPER show in the very near future. It’s been way too long…….

In December, Sweet talked about the musical direction of STRYPERnew material: “Lots of riffs, grooves, up tempo and mid tempo and it all has a great feel. I’ve only sent music to the guys so they haven’t heard any melodies yet but the melodies are strong and powerful.

“It’s always a little strange talking about your own music, but I can say that I’m really excited about the direction of this album! I know you will be too. a little bigger and heavier. There’s some songs with the low E string lowered another notch (C) so those songs also have a bit more meat and potato 😉 There are some ballads but they are not typical ‘piano” or “acoustic” ballads. They are also heavy and definitely guitar driven.

“Even though there have been hurdles along the way, this album has truly taken the form of incredible work,” Sweet added. “We’re a long way off but man, can’t wait for y’all to hear this!!”

In March 2021, Fox underwent the first of his brain surgeries to treat one of the tumors discovered in his head more than four years ago. That same month, STRYPER and Frontiers Music Srl announced that they had extended their working relationship to release new studio albums together.

STRYPER and Borders originally joined forces in 2013 for the release of “Second Coming”, an album consisting of new recordings of 14 songs from the band’s early years, plus two new songs. What followed was a string of critically and commercially successful studio albums, including “No more hell to pay” (2013), “Fallen” (2015), “God Fucking Evil” (2018) and “Even the Devil Believes” (2020). Plus, a live album and a long-form video, “Living on Whiskey” (2014) was made available. Each of the albums released on Borders for the past nine years, it has successfully charted on the Billboard 200 chart and topped the Hot 100, Rock, Hard Rock, Current and Christian Music album charts.

STRYPER are one of the best-known metal bands to emerge from the fertile 80s revival more than three decades ago. The band first hit the world stage in 1984 and are responsible for classic 80s metal albums such as “Soldiers Under Command”, “To hell with the devil” and “We believe in God” and hit singles/videos such as “Call you”, “Free” and “Frankly”. To date, the group has sold over eight million records worldwide and is a Dove Price winner and grammys candidate. STRYPER was also the first group to have two songs in MTVit is “Top 10 Videos Countdown” simultaneously.

After being on hiatus for much of the 90s, STRYPER came back stronger than ever at the beginning of the 21st century. Musically, the band progressed and expanded their fan base steadily and continuously, being one of the few “classic” metal bands of the 80s that managed to stay at the forefront thanks to the consistency of their musical production.
