Abbey Road Studios is coming to Australia

Acclaimed recording house Abbey Road Studios has announced a foray into the world of music education and will open two Abbey Road institutes in Sydney and Melbourne in September.

2015 is the inaugural year for the Abbey Road Institute, which will see its first iteration move into the beloved North London studios which have hosted artists such as Pink Floyd, Kate Bush, Oasis, Radiohead, Sting and , of course, The Beatles.

London Abbey Road Institute will have specially designed classrooms and studio facilities, with each student also having access to a powerful computer workstation available before, during and after class.

According The Guardianin addition to institutes in Sydney and Melbourne, Abbey Road is also expanding to Berlin and Munich later this year.

The Abbey Road Institute is designed for students aged 18 and over and will offer a 12-month Advanced Diploma in Music Production and Sound Engineering.

In a statement, Abbey Road’s senior engineering manager Peter Cobbin shared his excitement ahead of the first intake of students.

“Abbey Road Institute benefits from 80 years of studio audio expertise, distilling some of our knowledge into a curriculum of classroom learning and hands-on studio experience,” he said. “I am thrilled that the Institute is nurturing and inspiring a new generation of audio professionals.”
