Oh ! Barclays Bank Illustrations Claim Legendary Abbey Road Studios Are in Brixton – Brixton Buzz

This bold and extra-vibrant piece of urban art caught our eye yesterday at the Brixton branch of Barclays Bank, mainly because it seemed like such an incongruous piece to see hanging in a bank.

With the handwritten words “Love Is All You Need” on the print it was clear it was The Beatles, and upon closer inspection we could see it was a photograph of the graffiti on the wall outside the famous Abbey Road studios in north London.

Barclays Bank thinks legendary Abbey Road studios are in Brixton

Containing the largest purpose-built recording studio in the world, Abbey Road is world famous as the studio used by The Beatles to record nearly all of their albums and singles between 1962 and 1970.

The band even named their 1969 album Abbey Roadafter the street where the studio is located, the studio in St John’s Wood being renamed Abbey Road Studios just a year later.

Other world famous bands associated with the studio include Pink Floyd, Adele, U2, Radiohead, Oasis, Stevie Wonder, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse. and much more.

So we were rather surprised to see that the photo was captioned, “Abbey Road Studios, Brixton.”

How can anyone not know where these studios are – or at least not know that they are not in Brixton?

Well done Barclays!
